Research shows that you have 60,000 thoughts per day. Each one of your thoughts either moves you closer to what you want in life or moves you away from it. You see, every thought is an “energy” that is magnetic which means that each thought you have will bring to you more of the same. In other words, what you focus on expands.
If “what you focus on expands” is true…and according to physics it is…then it is imperative that you begin to be aware of what you are thinking to ensure that what you think about is focused on what you want to create in your life.
The challenges to this lies in the fact that you live in a world that focuses on what is “not working” in your own life and the world. It is these “doom and gloom” stories that sell newspapers and increase TV ratings. As a result, many people view themselves, other people, and the world through a negative lens. They see the glass half empty!
Your thoughts are made up of images, words, and feelings that are the data you put into your “mental computer” every second of every day. To put it simply, your success in life is determined by the data you put into your computer. Why? Because your mind controls your body, not the other way around.
Positive thoughts are the fuel for success in all areas of your life. For athletes, positive thoughts affect their performance in the same way a sports car reacts to high octane gas. The more positive your thoughts the healthier and better you perform. The opposite is also true; the more negative your thoughts are, the more you actually compromise your health and success.
You actually become what you think about all day. So if you want to change something in your life then change what you think about it. Knowing that what you focus on expands, start by being aware of what it is you think about all day and ask yourself, “Are my thoughts going to create what I want or are they creating what I do not want?”
If the answer is yes, then continue focusing on the positive. However, if your inner dialogue and pictures are that of failure, hardship, and gloom you must begin to change these thoughts one at a time. In other words, slow down and be aware of what you are thinking and feeling.
Create a list of affirmations or statements that affirm what you want to see happen in your life. Then set aside time throughout the day to check in and notice what you are thinking and feeling to make sure they are in line with your affirmations. This does not happen over night but the more you practice the faster you will create it. Soon positive thinking will become a way of life for you.
Always remember, you are the one in control even though it may appear that you are not. You have more power to realize your dreams than you could ever imagine. You just have to know and believe you CAN!
