Lessons We Must Learn in Life

Life is very much like a theatrical performance in which everyone we meet plays the exact part they need to play in order to teach us a lesson that will help us to become the best we can be. Examples of these lessons are kindness, love, patience, letting go of the need to be right, non-judgment, gratitude, looking for the good, and service to others, just to name a few.

Life is a series of lessons that must be learned in order for us to evolve spiritually. The attitudes that Masters like Jesus and Buddha taught were always of a positive, constructive nature which fostered not only spiritual health but mental and physical, as well. Never was there a time when they taught people to retaliate, but instead they taught people to love.

Even in conditions that we think warrant resentment, anger, and retaliation we must remember that what we do to others will eventually be done unto us. However, it is not enough to suppress these feeling on the inside and act on the outside as if nothing is wrong. Instead, we must change our thoughts from resentment and anger to kindness and compassion. We must truly forgive others for they do not know the harm they bring to themselves. Render no man evil for evil. Do not overcome evil with evil, but overcome evil with good.

We must realize that we can never leave a situation permanently, unless we leave it with love and acceptance. We will continue to repeat the same type of experiences over and over until we learn to stop hating and fighting back and instead embrace it with love and understanding. Examples of this could be money, health, relationships, etc. We cannot permanently get rid of what we do not like or want; we can only transform it through love. Another way to say this is that you cannot leave a situation permanently unless you appreciate the gift (lesson) it brings to you, and all situations bring a gift; no matter how terrible the situation may appear.

We must look at these situations as a lesson to make us stronger and more spiritual. When we can remain positive and respond with kindness every time, we will eventually find that people will not bother us any longer. When we can learn to be grateful for the experience, knowing that each person plays the exact role they need to play to teach us what we need to learn to help us become more spiritual, we will no longer have to experience them.

Gratitude will speed us through our growth and success more than any amount of hard work ever could. If we can act in a spiritual manner (high vibration) even when others treat us in a harmful way, we will eventually create an atmosphere around us that will attract only higher, more spiritual vibrations (people and events). When we learn to be grateful for both what we like and what we do not like, we complete the lesson and are released from having to experience it again.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and of there be any praise, think on these things.”
